Sharp strategy within a highly censored industry
The Challenge: Cannabis is a highly regulated industry, with laws varying state by state. As a result, marketers face mixed levels of censorship across every channel. With unique rules for each advertising and social media platform and the industry’s stigma clouding each piece of content, every piece of creative has to work twice as hard to build trust before it earns a conversion.
The team members at Alluvial Studio helped Veriheal, a national medical marijuana telehealth platform, build a system that not only navigated those constraints but thrived within them.
The Process: Together, the Alluvial Studio team built and implemented a comprehensive brand and marketing strategy across paid advertisement, SEO, and web design and copy.
Together, the team implemented a ground-up rebrand of the company’s website, with Hayley running strategy, Rachael designing every page on the site, and Kym providing the brand-aligned copy on those pages. The team worked closely to build out the company’s brand, voice, style, and messaging, aligning these standards across design, copy and blog writing, paid advertisement, and all public-facing content.
Individually, each team member owned their discipline.
Hayley drove the overarching growth strategy spearheading email campaigns, partner outreach with institutions like Johns Hopkins, radio and billboard placements, and a constant pipeline of new service offerings that kept Veriheal expanding its reach and relevance year over year.
Rachael created all social, collateral, and campaign creative for the company, establishing the company’s visual direction as a whole and ensuring alignment across paid and organic channels.
Kymberly implemented a long-term content strategy that systematically strengthened Veriheal’s SEO footprint while establishing the brand as a trusted thought leader in cannabis education balancing best practices, fact-checked medical content, and stigma-busting cultural analysis.
Jermaine ran data-informed paid media placement across every platform legally available, including Google and Bing, Taboola, and billboard and radio, successfully navigating a constantly changing compliance minefield.
Together, the team grew the company’s digital presence through fully aligned organic and paid marketing and collaborations with a number of major players in the industry, including Johns Hopkins University, the Last Prisoner Project, Puffco, and Cookies.
The Result: Over two years of coordinated, cross-discipline effort across SEO, paid media, brand, content, and partnership strategy resulted in the company operating at $20M+ in revenue with the marketing infrastructure to match. Marketing efficiency improved by 23%, and Veriheal gained three new revenue streams. Altogether, with the help from team members at Alluvial Studio, the company evolved from a single-service certification platform into a patient-centered healthcare company with national recognition.
